Hermit Crab Care Wound Care

Rarely your hermies could injure themselves resulting in an open wound. These should be taken care of differently than a sick or infected crabbie. Here are a few tips to help your hermie heal up nicely.

1. Salt water Baths - Salt water baths will help the wound heal and keep it from getting infected. Bathe just the wounded part of the hermie to cut down on stress.

2. Feeding a good diet including calendula (marigold) which will gently stimulate the immune system, is a mild anti-bacterial and anti-fungal, and cuts down on healing time. (From Sue at Coenobita Research

3. Medicinal Bath - Vicki at Hermit Crab Addiction has a great medicinal bath that is doing very well in trials. You can find this at Hermit Crab Addiction Store, along with other great natural hermie foods and supplies. You can also make your own. The recipes are located On Sues site, Coenobita Research. Please look under her crab care FAQs on Treating Ailments.
