CtryLuv's Crabbie Cove Photo Gallery

This is our hermie Hermie, lol. She is a real sweetheart that loves to come out and play! SAD UPDATE: We lost Hermie. Ive had her the longest of all my crabbies. We dont know what happened. I sent some swabs from her to a friend that is majoring in Marine Biology and she ran some tests. The only thing she could find was that Hermies motabolism was slowing down which meant one of her organs were failing. She thinks that because Hermie was getting into puberty age, that since she wasnt able to breed like she would have been in the wild, that her body couldnt handle the stress. I miss my baby
.

This is our hermie Smilin Bob. When we bought him, he was in green painted shell with a smilie face on it, hence his name.
This is the 4th shell he's changed into in the last week. Isnt he handsome!!!

Here is a pic of Big Fred. He's a handsome devil too. I hope he chooses a different shell soon though, cause this one is a wee bit too small for him.

Here is a pic of Plum, my tiny ruggie. He's such a cutie!! He has changed shells a few times since we got him, finally settling on a small green turbo. He is my most active climber of the bunch!!

Here is a picture of Wiggles with Plum sitting on his back. Plum seems to love him lots! I think he gets kind of tired of being sat on though, cause he hides from Plum alot!!

This is my hermie Spot. In this pic, he is getting ready to dig down for his molt.

I finally got a picture of Bashful during bath time. Here she is!!! SAD UPDATE: We found Bashful dead under the EE when we did a deep clean. It appears that she just dug under and died. I think it was Post Purchase Stress. She was always a very shy crabbie and I dont think she handled capivity well.

My son bought me a little white ruggie and he is soooo cute!!! He has a small black stripe and a small gray stripe on his big pincher. He is missing his little pincher, but he is dug down right now hopefully for a molt and will grow it back soon. Here is Zebra!!! UPDATE 8/7/05: Zebra has just came up from a molt and is sporting a very nice little pincher and pretty black toenails!! Way to go Zebra!!

This is my hermie Fruity. He got his name from his vibrant coloring. He is one of the brightest red PPs Ive seen to date!!! UPDATE: My poor baby Fruity passed away a few days ago. I found him outside of his shell. It almost looks like a shell fight where he was the loser. He was always a timid crabbie and he will be missed!!

This is my hermie Tootie. He got his name because we got him at the same time as Fruity and it rhymed, lol! Poor Tootie has passed also. I found him during a deep clean. It appears he passed from a bad molt :( .

This is my hermie Tweety. He is the only one still in a painted shell, and he dug down in the main tank the first night and we havent seen him since! UPDATE: Tweety has molted and since moved into a natural shell. YAY Tweety!!

This is my hermie Mr. Pinchy. He got his name for latching on to my index finger the first time I held him. He was my largest hermie until the Straws came home. He is still the largest in the tank though as the Straws have their own tank. He has since changed shells into a japanese snail shell.

This is my hermie Baby. He pretty much dug down in ISO right after we got him and has been buried since. When he comes back up Ill be sure to get better pictures! UDATE: Baby molted and changed into a pretty silver banded green turbo. Havent been able to get a pic though.

This is my new Straw Phoenix. He is one gorgeous boy! Update: We lost Phoenix during a bad molt. He will be missed :(

This is my other Straw Fireball. We purchased him at the same time as Phoenix. Update: Unfortunately we have also lost Fireball, again to a bad molt. :( I have since added a UTH to the main tank, and tweeked everything to see if it will make it more straw friendly. I havent yet replaced my straw babies, but once spring is here, I hope to try again :)

Next up is my 3 new micros. This is my new micro Munchkin. These guys are sooo tiny I just had to buy them, lol. UPDATE: I lost Munchkin a couple days after I got him from PPS.

This is my micro He-man. He got his name because after this pic was taken, he changed shells into a larger silver banded green turbo. You can just barely see him in the back of that huge shell, lol. Update: I have also lost He-man. He was my last micro. Unfortunately I have no idea what happened to him. He just disappeared :(

Last but not least is Minimoo. Ive got to get some carotene into him. Hes just too pale, lol. UPDATE: Well, I lost Minimoo also. I have had a very hard time with the tiny guys so I doubt that I get any more. It is just too heartbreaking :( .

This is my jumbo Frankie. I adopted him for someone in Memphis who felt that her 10 gallon just wasnt big enough for him. He loves the room he has in the 55 and is the sweetest and most lovable of my crabbies. SAD UPDATE: Frankie passed from what we are figuring was old age. Judging by his size he was at least 25-30 years old. He had molted with me once and came through it like a champ. He was my baby and will be missed!!

I finally found my Es!! I bought 5 of them, lol. The first one up is Speedy G. My hubby named him because he is so quick!! He has a beautiful blue coloring! I have made all of these pics clickable cause they are kind of hard to see at this size. You can click on the pics to see them at full view.

Next up is Chippy. He got his name because the shell he is in is chipped.

Third is Bippy. He is the tiniest of the 5.

Fourth is Boo. He is the next to smallest of the bunch.

This is Googly. His name comes from his cute little googly eyes. Yes, they all have to cute googly eyes but we had to name one after them, lol. UPDATE: Googly went naked after a molt and passed. He is missed very much!

This is my newly purchased straw Redeye. In this pic he is checking out a new shell. My hubby named him because of his red eye stalks and because the night before we watched the movie Red Eye, lol. He has changed shells several times and is now resting comfortably in the main tank :)

This is Ticky. My daughter named him. Not sure how she came up with Ticky though, lol. Me and the hubby call him Little Red. He is a small Straw I just purchased and was lucky enough to find him. Small straws are very rare around here!! He was in a painted shell but this morning the painted shell was empty. Hes dug down somewhere but as soon as he comes up Ill know what shell he went into :)

This is Copper. He is named after his copper color. My hubby found him and Limey at Petco and fell in love with Limeys green tint. He was also impressed at their size because all of our Es are little guys and these two were larger, about medium, so we ended up getting them :)

This is our other larger E Limey. He has a green tint to him and the hubby just fell in love!!

This is our 2 new micros. I seen them and just couldnt resist. They are Es also. They just moved into the E tank today after a few weeks in ISO. The littlest one in the babylonia is the shiest. I havent come up with names for them yet but Im working on it. The first picture is of them in my hubbys hand to give you an idea of their size and then one picture of each of them by themselves.

This is my new jumbo Frankie Jr. We purchased him the same day we got the little Es. I lost my first Jumbo Frankie to old age, so I had to get him a heir. The pic aint that good, hes in his pot with one of the ruggies but Ill get a better one soon :)

Here is a pic of the Es converging outside of the hermie hut. Im not sure what they are up to and they arent talking!!
The saga of Spot
04-27-05
Spot (as pictured above) dug down for his molt on 4-1-05. Everything seemed to be going well. On 4-25-05 he finally shed his exo. He cameout of his shell to say hello that evening, and we were all very excited! Then the poor little guy flipped over on his back and crawled all the way out of his shell! Needless to say I was in a panic!! As of today, 4-27-05, he is still out of his shell, but he is alive. We are keeping a very close eye on his humidity and temp levels, and have made sure he has plenty of shells to move into. I boiled his old shell in dechlor stress coat water, and as it was boiling, a piece of his exo came out of it. Apparently, the poor little guy had it stuck up inside with him, and it was bothering him, causing him to come out of his shell. We are keeping a close eye on him and will keep everyone updated!!
04-29-05
Sad Update: Spot passed on 4-29-05. He crawled in the water dish on 4-28 and just sat there. I finally checked him and he was gone
May my little baby rest in peace and find lots of new friends over the rainbow bridge.
You can see pictures of his molting process here

I have also added fiddler crabbies to my little zoo. I have 2 males and 2 females. I have had them about 2 weeks and so far they have pretty much remained hidden while they destress. I have gotten one pic of my large male. This is him below. I still havent named them but plan to soon. Isnt he cute!!!

Here is a pic my hubby was able to get of our smaller male. As you can see, his big claw is smaller than the one above and is also on the opposite side. Hes a cutie too :)

You know your a hermie addict when......

A tribute to lost crabbies :(
